Islamabad and Lahore, Pakistan:  "Life of Migrants" is a collaboration between the Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs) of Pakistan and TCM to raise awareness on safe and informed migration while warning of the risks associated with irregular migration. This video is the personal story of Ayesha who speaks about how he came to Turkey legally in order to fulfil her dream of studying abroad. She explains the process involved and shares warning tales of Pakistanis who came to Turkey illegally.

Baghdad, Iraq: In early January 2021, raw materials procured by IBM Silk Routes arrived in Iraq for the production of COVID-19 related PPE for use by Customs Police, Border Guard Forces and officials at Border Crossing Points (BCPs).

un guidelines support migrant resource centres

Vienna, Austria: The Montreal Recommendations on Recruitment: a Road Map towards Better Regulation has been published by the UN. This document covers the importance of establishing Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs) and providing information about migration, employment, labour recruiters, access to healthcare, housing, raising grievances and dispute resolution mechanisms.

ICMPD together with the governments of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iraq and Pakistan are already implanting these guidelines with EU funding.

Pakistan rickshaw campaign

Lahore, Pakistan: The Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Pakistan launched an eight month rickshaw advertising campaign in 4 districts of Punjab: Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot. The campaign aims at raising awareness of the MRC’s services - as well as the nationwide hotline - focusing on personal counselling sessions through the hotline, WhatsApp, Skype and Messenger.

This campaign is funded by the European Union and co-funded by Germany.

successful poster campaign in kabul

Kabul, Afghanistan: In order to facilitate migration management and warn of the dangers associated with irregular migration, we launched a billboard campaign in Kabul. This explained and informed citizens about the services of the Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) and also provided that hotline which anyone can call free of charge. This campaign has led to a 50% increase in daily consultations. We are now averaging 280 personal consultations per week in Kabul.
