Document Security training workshop for Border Agencies of Ministry of Interior Affairs in Kabul

Climate change and migration in Afghanistan

Kabul, Afghanistan: An event entitled "Is Climate Change driving Migration in Conflict-ridden Afghanistan" was held on the occasion of the launch of the Action Aid report on the same topic. Marija Raus from the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) spoke at the event on our policy work in Afghanistan and how this relates to climate induced migration in the country.

Baghdad, Iraq: With the support of the European Union and co-funding from Norway, and drawing on its extensive experience in setting up, operating and developing such Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs) in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is able to utilise this knowledge and experience in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs for the benefit of Iraqi citizens.

Safeguarding against COVID-19 when working at Border Crossing Points

Vienna, Austria: Since the outbreak of COVID-19, ICMPD has supported border authorities around the world in adapting to the unprecedented chain reaction of restrictions and challenges triggered by the pandemic. Today, ICMPD launches a video on Safeguarding Measures to be taken at Border Crossing Points (BCPs) to further support border guards to prevent and protect against the virus.

ICMPD hosts first Trade-based Money Laundering Training Investigation for Customs officials in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh: From the 23-26 November 2020, ICMPD hosted an Anti-Money Laundering Training Workshop for customs officials and employees in Bangladesh. The workshop was opened by Mr. Khondaker Muhammad Aminur Rahman from the Modernization and International Trade Department, Bangladesh Customs, who praised ICMPD’s initiative in organising the first training on the topic.

new Equipment for Technical Training Centres in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh: This week the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) has handed over equipment to 10 Technical Training Centres (TTCs) in Bangladesh. Composed of laptops, finger print scanners and cameras, the equipment will be used by the TTCs to perform specific pre-departure services for migrant workers such as registration and fingerprinting.
