ICMPD provides technical equipment to support efficient processes at border crossing points in Afghanistan

Kabul & Farah, Afghanistan: In November, deliveries of technical equipment arrived at the Afghan Border Police Headquarters in Kabul and the Abu Nasre-Farahi Border Crossing Point (BCP) with Iran, in Afghanistan. The equipment will support the Afghan Border Police (ABP) in their operations and the Afghan Customs Department (ACD) at both land and major air BCPs with monitoring the increased flow of people entering the country.

Virtual Group Discussion with the South East European Region Working Group

25+ representatives from 10 countries and regional organisations as well as the European Commission gathered virtually to discuss border management cooperation in the Western Balkans. Initiated by North Macedonia as Chair of the South East European Region Working Group (SEE WG), this group discussion was opened to selected European states to foster cooperation beyond the Western Balkans region.

Consultative session on the development of media guidelines on migration reporting in Pakistan

The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the Ethical Journalism Network (EJN) held two online consultative sessions on migration reporting in Pakistan in the first week of November 2020. Strengthening labour migration management in Iraq

Baghdad, Iraq: The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Iraq has approved and endorsed the “Guide for the Regulation of Foreign Workers in the Republic of Iraq within Existing Labour Legislation”. The Guide was developed by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development and MOLSA to expand the labour migration rules and regulations in Iraq.

A Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) for Tajikistan

On 3-5 November, ICMPD held a high-level workshop with the Tajik Ministry of Labour and agreed on the concrete steps towards the establishment of a Migrant Resource Centre in the country. The Deputy Minister of Labour, Ms. Shakhnoza Nodiri, and the European Delegation attended, along with the representatives of all key structural departments of the Ministry and the Migration service. During these three days, the parties discussed the needs, the work plan as well as the strategy to open and operate the MRC.
