Baghdad, Iraq: An ICMPD Delegation from the Silk Routes Regional Office in Vienna visited Baghdad, Iraq, on 20-24 November 2021. The purpose of the visit was to discuss ICMPD’s ongoing efforts and work in the area of migration with the senior management of the Iraqi Government, including the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Displacement, Labour & Social Affairs and the Interior.

ICMPD also met with the Deputy Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in order to assess the prevalent (and migration-led) priorities of the Government, allowing future support to be provided based on concrete needs. In addition, meetings were also held with the Delegation of the European Union to Iraq and international partners in order to ensure coordination and the complementarity of work carried out.

This week we are focusing in more detail on our activity in Iraq with national ministries, local officials and international partners, as well as the impact that we are having.
