Climate change and induced migration in Bangladesh

Khulna, Bangladesh: Action Aid Bangladesh in the framework of the project “South Asia Migration and Climate (SAMAC)” - funded by the European Union through the Silk Routes Facility Call for Proposals - organised a national level seminar in Khulna on the 20th March 2021 on climate change induced migration in Bangladesh.

The seminar was attended by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change as well as the Director for the Environment, and City Corporation representatives under the Khulna Division. Academics from the University of Khulna, local newspaper and electronic media representatives also participated in the seminar along with the ICMPD Dhaka office.

The action is targeted to sensitize policymakers to the challenges and realities of migration caused by climate change. It also raises environmental factors, as well as the protection, policy and institutional gaps that need to be addressed.

This activity is funded by the European Union and implemented by ICMPD.
